2018 with Magneto

The year 2018 is coming to the end. So, this is the best time to summarize all the good things that happened in these twelve months with Magento and the industry. Here are a few events, which became part of e-commerce history this year. 

Magento and Amazon

Last February Magento made an announced about its integration with Amazon Marketplace. Amount of sales through Amazon raises every year. And that’s why it was so important to implement a native integration. There is not a secret, that a multi-channel retailing has more options for better sales. Magento Imagine

This year the 8th Magento Imagine Conference took place on April 23rd - 25th in Las Vegas. Among speakers were Magento Commerce CEO Mark Lavelle and the keynote person and inspiring orator Jaime Foxx. In 2018 conference have gathered more than 3000 experts from all over the world.

GDPR 

General Data Protection Regulation was implemented on May 25th. The regulation gives to a customer an opportunity to control personal data about itself. Meet Magento

Meet Magento this year has such scope. In some countries it took place for the first time. You could visit Meet Magento in Dubai, Argentina, Poland, Sweden, Brazil, Croatia, Romania, Greece, Mexico, Australia, USA, China, and Japan. In every country, you could meet Magento experts from all over the world, share your experience and get some new ones. 

Magento 2 versions

Magento 2.0 was released three years ago and it is still got it. This year we saw the following updates of Magento 2: 

  • Magneto 2.2.3 
  • Magneto 2.2.4
  • Magneto 2.2.5
  • Magneto 2.2.6
  • Magneto 2.2.7

Release notes and patch code for Magneto 2.2.3 were published on Devdocs on February 27th, 2018. In the release includes more than thirty security updates, changes in Magento Admin and copyright updates.

For Magneto 2.2.4 patch code and release notes were published on May 2nd. There were new tools and some fixes. 

On the 1st of July, a Magento 2.2.5 version came out with bug fixes and security improvements.

Magento 2.2.6 patch and release were published on September 18th with security and bugs fixes.

On November 28th was published release notes for Magento 2.2.7 with product security and code fixes. 

Adobe & Magento

This June Magento Commerce became a part of Adobe Company. Indisputably, this is the biggest event of the year. In 2018 this cooperation was very productive for both sides. And we will see how it goes next year. 

Magento 2.3

Almost a whole year Magento community have been waiting for a Magento 2.3 version since its announcement on Magento Imagine Conference. And, finally, was released on November 28th. It has such features and improvements like PWA studio, multi-source inventory, page builder, Magento Shipping, GraphQL, asynchronous & Bulk Web APIs, declarative schema, improved indexing performance, and new security tools.
